School of the Americas Protest
November 1999

Day 2: The Rally

After spending a night locked in a Quaker meetinghouse
in Atlanta, we made it to Columbus for the rally
on Saturday morning. Crowds of protestors lined the curb and police cars lined the street. I was amazed at the number of people who turned out for it.
There were tons and tons of students representing
their schools as well as people of all other ages. Among the many captivating speakers and entertainers
who dominated the stage, singers Colleen Kattau and
Jolie Christine Rickman engaged the crowd with their
spirited songs. Although our group from Guilford was small compared
to many of the other school groups, we were no less expressive.
Pictured above are Doug and Brock holding up a
sign with Charles being a bystander on the left. And here's David and David holding up our other
big sign, and Claire standing in front of the first David,
resting her arms. We stand united
